Optimising your website

Optimising your website improves your ranking in search engine results. This applies to both "organic" search and PPC search results. Optimisation of websites entails both "on-page" SEO and "off-page" SEO. On-page refers to those things that you can do to your website to improve rankings. Off-page SEO refers to those things that can be done form other websites that will improve your rankings and are covered through our Promotion services. On-page SEO needs to be addressed from both a structural and content perspective.

Certain constraints may exist with your ability to fully optimise your website structurally subject to the development languages, platforms and skills of your web developer. Some content management systems (CMS) commonly used are not "search engine friendly" and should be avoided. Whilst most do provide for search engine optimisation, not all make use of the facilities and with changes your site can become more structurally friendly to the search engines.

On-page optimisation is about driving your keywords throughout your landing pages (those pages within your site which you aer focusing your attention and that of the search engines). Optimisation looks at the degree to which you make use of your keywords throughout your pages. It is not just about the META TAGS. We look at where those keywords can be used in the normal content, in your links, image tags, headings etc and ensure that they are not overused otherwise you may be penalised.

80/20 Rule of Search Engine Marketing

As with many things we find that 80% of our desired result comes from 20% of those things we can do to achieve that result. Website optimisation can be based on over 200 different techniques and tricks (and don't ask me to tell you what they are). Our SEM focuses on this 20% while of that we largely focus on the following 8 key initiatives (of which the first 4 are on-page optimisations).

  1. Title TAGS
  2. KEYWORD density
  3. Site STRUCTURE
  4. INTERNAL links
  5. LINKS to your site from other high PR sites
  6. Page REPUTATION
  7. ANCHOR text
  8. Link POPULARITY
